Ecological Wine, After more than a decade of classical wine production, despite the already reduced level of spraying, I was suffering from worsened asthma, that almost forced me to give up my profession. This and my increased sense of responsibility for the environment led to my decision, back in 1978, to start the transformation towards organic vine production, that was already completed by 1986. Our Weingut became the "The First ecological Winery of Württemberg" and Member of the Bundesverband Ökologischer Weinbau (BÖW). Since then we operate according to the stringent rules of the Bundesverband Ökologischer Weinbau. We do not use artificial or synthetic herbicides and pesticides for spraying. Chemical-synthetic fertilizer or problematic wine treatments are also forbidden. Instead, we do:
After a transformation period of at least 3 years the following improvements can be achieved:
By selecting an ‘ecovin wine’ you demonstrate your responsibility for the environment
and the nature. You now can enjoy delicious, natural wine as it has been produced very close to and together with ‘mother nature’. Producing ecological wines is more expensive because: more work is involved, natural
fertilizers and sprays are more expensive, and because of reduced quantity. Producing less wine from the same vineyard always increases quality. The amount of
high quality wines, ‘Prädikatsweine’, in ecological wineries is higher and the wines are also more dense. Bundesverband Ökologischer Weinbau (BÖW) Postfach 1261 Tel.: 06133 925395 We are a contracted winery of the Bundesverband Ökologischer Weinbau |
